DESIGN INSPIRATION: VOR TEXT
The first blog post of every month is design inspo. We give you a little behind-the-scenes look at our tee of the month and share some of our thought processes. As you may have seen already, we’ve chosen the Vor Text t-shirt for June. With a modern approach to branding, we think this tee will be a staple of ours for the foreseeable future.
We love the Vor Text tee for a number of reasons: it’s clean and modern, and it’s clear branding. There’s no questioning what brand it comes from. It’s also nice to offer a product that isn’t orientated around surfing. We wanted a design that would look just as good away from the coast as it does around it. The clean design also coincided with our general modernisation of the brand identity. We made a shift towards clean black-on-white branding, a move that has been common throughout the fashion industry within the past few years. And with our digital presence growing, this clean and to-the-point branding really stands out.
Our biggest inspiration has come from streetwear. Often, these brands will sell a name rather than a logo. Stüssy and Supreme are the two standouts. Among all of their seasonal items, they have their mainstay items which tend to be name based. The now-iconic Supreme box logo and the Stüssy script are instantly recognisable. And that’s what we aspire towards — having the Hager-vor name be instantly known.
The simple nature of the design also allows us to play around with colours. Alongside the usual black, white, and grey, we currently have an olive green and a sea blue. With a simple design, there’s a lot of room for playing with colours. In the future, we’d like to introduce different coloured tees and, perhaps, different coloured dyes. After the success of coloured prints on our Glide tees, this is something that has left us looking for colour combinations everywhere!
We have full stock in all 5 colours of the tee online and in store. Be sure to check them out, and let us know what you think of the tees. Do you like the cleaner minimal designs? What colours would you like to see next? Let us know through any of our social media channels!
